Puron refrigerant is Carrier's solution to the government mandate that by 2010 all new air conditioners and heat pumps operate with non-ozone-depleting refrigerant. But did you know Carrier already has sold more than 3 million Puron refrigerant products? Here are a few more interesting tidbits:
- 4.5 million pounds of Puron refrigerant were used in Carrier products last year. That's enough to fill a 3/8" tube that stretches completely around the earth.
- The allowable standard line length for Carrier's new Puron refrigerant models and increased to 80 feet-a 60-percent jumbp.
- Puron refrigerant's critical temerapute is 42degrees less than that of R-22.
- Puron refrigerant has a much higher specific heat in both liquid and vapor form than R-22.
- Puron refrigerant lets HVAC system deginers use smaller refrigerant lines and evaporator coils with longer heat transfer units, making the systems more efficient.
- Puron refrigernat's vapor density is about three times that of air.
